founded in 1993 with the mission to promote the advancement of women in professional and executive positions.

Business 2000 Award

In 1995, in support of its mission to promote the placement of women in senior executive positions and corporate boardrooms, Network 2000, in cooperation with The Daily Record newspaper, established the Award.

The Business 2000 Award is given / bestowed each year to the business with a strong corporate presence in Maryland that most clearly embodies an on-going, visible commitment to the advancement of women in all aspects of its business operations. This would include, but is not limited to the number of women in senior and executive management, the number of women on the company’s Board of Directors, employment practices and results that demonstrate that the advancement and support of women is a core value of the company’s operations.

The 2010-2011 Business 2000 Award was presented to Legg Mason, Inc. at the March 22nd Roadmap to the Boardroom event.
