NETWORK 2000 AWARDS GRANTS TO GIRL SCOUTS, SUCCESS IN STYLE AND WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS OF BALTIMORE

Baltimore— Network 2000, a Baltimore organization promoting the advancement of women in business, awarded grants last night to three local programs — Girl Scouts Beyond Bars, Success in Style and Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore — all whose work reflects the mission of Network 2000.

Created by the National Institute of Justice in collaboration with the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, Girl Scouts Beyond Bars helps maintain, and in some cases reforge, the bond between girls and their incarcerated mothers. Through council-facilitated prison visits, mothers and daughters join for troop meetings and traditional Girl Scout activities.

Success in Style is a nonprofit organization promoting dignity and self-sufficiency among disadvantaged women by providing them with business attire and practical fashion advice. The organization is committed to establishing a social culture of equality and respect for all women.

Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that provides entrepreneurial training, technical assistance and follow-up services for microbusiness development in the Baltimore metropolitan area.

Network 2000 accepts grant requests throughout the year. Grants are awarded to 501(c)3 organizations for their programs that support women entering or advancing in the workforce. Network 2000 is currently accepting grant requests for 2007. For more information about Network 2000 grant opportunities, visit www.network2000-md.org.
