JEHAN SADAT WILL PRESENT KEYNOTE AT ANNUAL WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE LUNCHEON
Baltimore— Women’s rights advocate, scholar and world humanitarian, former Egyptian first lady Madame Jehan Sadat will present the keynote address at the 13th annual Women of Excellence Luncheon, which will take place Thursday, Nov. 30, at noon at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore (300 Light St.). The Women of Excellence Luncheon is presented by Network 2000, a Maryland not-for-profit organization promoting the advancement of women in professional and executive positions.
Madame Sadat will focus her address on her lifelong commitment, crusade and accomplishments in empowering women economically and politically in Egypt and throughout the Middle East.
“Her experiences will serve as a model for all women trying to empower themselves and encourage other women to rise the ranks in a male-dominated business and political world,†said Harriet E. Cooperman, a partner at Saul Ewing and co-chair of the luncheon planning committee.
Also co-chairing the committee with Cooperman are Margaret Hayes, director of student educational services and outreach at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, and Leanne P. Posko, a local consultant. Kaiser Permanente will serve as the event’s Presenting Sponsor. The Women of Excellence Luncheon is held annually in Baltimore, providing a forum for Baltimore professionals to experience insight from some of the world’s most influential and inspiring women. Past luncheon speakers include Madeleine Albright, Coretta Scott King, Margaret Thatcher and Paula Zahn, among others. More than 1,000 people attend the Women of Excellence Luncheon each year, raising funds for various causes that promote the advancement of women in business and the community.
