network 2000, inc

founded in 1993 with the mission to promote the advancement of women in professional and executive positions.

Women on Boards

One of the critical missions of Network 2000 is to increase the number of women serving on corporate boards. Women make the majority of consumer decisions for themselves and their families. Over half of the workforce is women. Women open businesses at twice the rate of men. Research shows that a company whose corporate board reflects their customer and workforce base improves their bottom line. Roadmap to the Boardroom is an annual program which provides an update to the status of women on corporate boards in Maryland and a forum for discussion.

Corporate Governance: What lies ahead? To some, corporate governance in the 21st century has already faced its share of challenges - and we are only a decade in. Looking to the future - 2010 and beyond - begs the questions, "What trends are shaping and will continue to shape the corporate board room? What challenges confront Boards of Directors as the first wave of baby boomer executives nears retirement and as segments of the public and federal government clamor for change in corporate governance? In the next generation of corporate directors will diversity of gender, enthnicity, and experience be a priority?

Join us for a presentation of Network 2000's 2009 Census of Women Board Directors and a panel discussion.
