network 2000, inc
founded in 1993 with the mission to promote the advancement of women in professional and executive positions.
The InterOrganization Network (ION)
Network 2000 is a member of ION, the InterOrganization Network (www.IONwomen.org), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the number of women on for-profit boards and in executive suites. Representing approximately 10,000 women, ION helps build awareness, opportunities and connections by creating a national voice for its 14 regional member organizations. In order to qualify for ION membership, Network 2000 has demonstrated its commitment to advancing women in leadership positions on corporate boards through various initiatives focused on corporate governance, mentoring and philanthropy, including conducting and publishing Network 2000's 2009 Census of Women Board Directors in Maryland. The 2009 Census will be released on April 8th.
ION publishes an annual census of women on boards and in the executive suites of public companies in its members’ geographical regions, and works to advance women in the nation’s largest companies. Each ION member organization publishes an annual study on the status of women directors and executive officers of public companies in their respective regions. Collectively, ION publishes an annual Census summarizing the regional findings, and thereby reflects the national status of the progress made by women in corporate leadership positions and board seats across the regions.
ION's latest Status Report "Guys Who Get It: Business Leaders that Understand the Value of Diversity at the Top" includes the Greater Baltimore Committee's Donald Fry.
